Central Coast Secondary Schools Mentoring (CCSSM) was formerly under the banner of Big Brothers, Big Sisters (Big Futures) mentoring program.
CCSSM is coordinated by an alliance of secondary high schools on the Central Coast. CCSSM is an in-school mentoring program which targets students in Years 9 & 10 and provides a supportive one-on-one mentoring program 1-2 hours per week for 10 weeks. Each mentor must undergo a stringent screening process and have a current Working With Children’s Check (WWCC). Support and training are provided for each mentor involved. This program is registered as a volunteer program with Centrelink.

Training Process of Mentors Mentors are required to complete a training booklet and one day face-to-face training day. Successful mentors are then required to be inducted into a secondary school that participates in CCSSM.

Screening Process of Mentors: Mentors required a current WWCC and police check.
Mentor Position Description: Mentoring is the development of a one-on-one relationship where a more experienced person helps a less experienced person achieve their goals. CCSSM offers young people the opportunity to plan for their next step into education, training or employment. A mentor can assist this process by offering their experience, support and guidance on a one-on-one basis.
Mentor Minimum Commitment: 1-2 hours per week for 10 weeks.
