Training Process of Mentors A 2-day training is arranged before mentors commence, and a shorter training I offered every six months to current volunteers.
Mentor Screening: Yes, screening is provided for mentors
Screening Process of Mentors: Volunteers submit a resume, and are then invited to submit an application form if they appear suitable. An interview is conducted, WWCC required, and referees are contacted. The 2-day training session is obligatory before commencement.
Mentor Position Description: Volunteers are allocated a school within reasonable distance from their homes, and school personnel match the volunteer with a child or group of children from refugee backgrounds. The volunteer's role is to support the child with school work and to nurture student well-being and self esteem.
Mentor Minimum Commitment: Volunteers agree to commit to half a day per week for the entire school year.
