Wesley Aunties & Uncles helps build a better life for children who face social or emotional challenges, through linking them to volunteer “aunts” and “uncles” who provide friendship, mentoring and support.
Wesley Aunties & Uncles is an ‘extended’ family and mentoring network committed to providing quality time, friendship and support to children from stressful and vulnerable family situations. Volunteer ‘aunts and uncles’ are over 21, from all walks of life, single or married. They have a friendly caring nature and genuine liking for children. ‘Nieces and nephews’ are referred to the program by parents, social workers, school counselors, family support services, etc. They are generally living in sole parent families with no extended family support, often in households with crisis situations. Once a child is linked with a volunteer mentor the child is supported by the volunteer with the assistance of the Wesley Aunties & Uncles Case Manager for a minimum of 12 months.
