The Gippsland East Youth Mentoring Program is about engaging young people at the secondary school level who are at risk of leaving school early. We provide mentors on a one on one basis who will became a friend to a young person to help them with career choices, further education and to enjoy other fun activities like crafts, sports and life experiences. Once a friendship is formed the student and mentor can continue to work together to work through and overcome life’s challenges.

Training Process of Mentors Once mentors are interviewed they undertake a 20hr training program. They are invited to PD's when available, such as PACTS training and ASSIST training.

Mentor Position Description: A mentor is a positive role model for a young person. They are to help with introducing a young person to career options. A mentor needs to be committed, reliable and youth friendly.
Mentor Minimum Commitment: One hour per week for 10 weeks.
